API: Content pieces can be edited directly rather than just versioned

Currently, the API does not allow for true editing of content pieces—every "update" simply creates a new version or replaces the existing one. For partners with their own AI integration (e.g., PILUM), this means there is no endpoint that edits an existing content piece in place without creating new versions.
